I like the idea of more animal designs (1, 3, 7, and 8). Like nature willing itself into anthropomorphizm to kill its prey. Jason Voorhees must simply go and never be seen again.
I have to say i prefer more humanoid characters than monster like creatures..I know Senua views them as monstruous but if the enemies look too diferent than a human i feel she would at some point realize she isn’t seeing clearly. I believe you should make the enemies more realistic like enemy #6 and #7.
Will you also add some of the previous enemies? Because you already had some pretty cool looking ones.
Keep it up!
I am fascinated by these. Could you Ninjas tell us a little more about your vision for the enemies’ appearance? I can use my imagination to guess at reasons for why they look the way they do but perhaps a little more context would help us as players see them as more than just monsters. I understand the Viking trauma but are the animal aspects something to do with her culture or encounters shes had or to be symbols of fear or something else? On another note, these pictures remind of the interview with Francis Bacon on your last update and how he portrayed people in his art, so to me it seems like these enemies are similar to Bacon’s paintings but through Senua’s eyes which I think is interesting. All in all I like where you’re going. You’re sparking my imagination.
5 looks like a worse version of 6, 4 looks kinda generic and 2 appears to be using the same weapon as 8, despite having a much smaller body? Other than that, the silhouettes look very distinguishable and avoid falling into the “dude in armour” trap that other action games like Dark Souls 2 suffer from. Nice job.
Really awesome, they look like as dead vikings of Helheim as nightmares who are searching someone to kill him…
I like the idea of the nature and the animals, the wood sticks looks great !
3 and 4 are my favourites, with 6 and 8 after that. The rest are cool but 1 and 7 with their faces covered just seems odd, much prefer the animal mask approach, and 2 seems a little too normal compared to the cooler animal vibe of the others 😀
My favourite is 6, a quick glance at the creature/monster it appears as if it is coming towards you! I see it with a complete dark background with only it’s form slightly visible. The monster could be fear itself, as we are visualising it’s physical features with our own existing fears.
My fav’s are 3 4 and 8 I imagine a kind of rooting attack from monster 4. Then him charging you like a bull while you try to escape the root before he can reach you. I like the way he looks like an earth element. A cool fire element attack could be something like ripping off his own head and throwing it at you like a fire ball (Yes I know there is no fire element looking thing here… just an idea) You could even do a beast with like a frog-like head that had two attacks .. one with a long tongue that poisons you and one where if he like turns around sprays you with a poison gas cloud … ooooo the possibilities….. LOL
Nice new direction of enemy vision. Yet it step pretty much away from the original Vikings concept. I’m okay with that if you’ll save the AWESOME music that you’ve already made with Combichrist.
As someone mentioned above – it’s very impressive feeling of nature rising against human. I think it gives you much more possibilities than vikings 🙂 You can make enemies much more variable, elemental even. Maybe add something like the Witcher 3 tried to achieve – you need to learn your enemy before the fight.
Damn I’ve finished typing and saw that Warren stated exact same thing I did. But hey that’s a good thing I guess since we all starting to think alike in this issue
I love how, due to this ´cancer of the mind´, whereof she suffers from hallucinations and an altered perception her surroundings, you sorta incorporated it in the enemies. They´re not just scary looking monster but looks like a combination of her surroundings and the grotesque figures of the enemy.
